In a report to be published Wednesday in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Dutch and American researchers said a study of gastric biopsy specimens taken an average of 11 { years apart from 58 patients indicated that the presence of certain strains of H . pylori increased the risk of severe inflammation and precancerous changes in the gastrointestinal system.
